A story that takes us to the depths of a watery Underworld and reveals the mysteries written in the stars how will the fates decide our ending?
Left Luggage Theatre began its Segedunum adventure in March 2009, delving into Wallsend's proud history and reflecting on the everyday and extraordinary in this town so influenced by the magnificent Tyne. Wallsend is a town full of echoes of its past but on the brink of a new future.
Left Luggage worked with older people in Wallsend to explore their memories of the place and the stories that are important to them. They then collaborated with Theatre Tantara (formerly North Tyneside Youth Theatre) on alveus:veris, the practical research phase of the project. To find out more click here.
Left Luggage brought the threads of this collaboration into devising with skilled performers and artists from the North East and across the UK to create alveus:solstice, a production that explored every hidden corner of Segedunum and poses the question: are we on the edge of great vision without even realising it?
